30-Day Fanfic Meme - Days 16 & 17

Day 16 – Summaries – Do you like them or hate them? How do you come up with them, if you use them?

I like them - people ought to get a basic idea what they're going to read. But I try not to give away too much. Putting together a good summary is hard, though.

Day 17 – Titles – Are they the bane of your existence, or the easiest part of the fic? Also, if you do chaptered fic, do you give each chapter a title, or not?

Usually, I find a title easily. Sometimes I'm into several chapters, though. As for chapter titles, I use them often, but not in all stories.

I totally agree about summaries, though I find titles the hardest thing in writing. :)

I often find summaries and titles harder to write than the story itself!

Usually, I find the titles easily. But I had a few stories that ran untitled for a while, too.

Summaries - I like them, I just dont want to know the whole book plot. Leave something to surprise me. As for making one - sometimes i think I never truly got the hang of it.

Titles - If I cannot think of one, and a bottle of wine does not help - I call on the cavalry.

I agree, a summary shouldn't reveal the entire plot. And finding a good title is very important. As the Germans would say, es ist die halbe Miete - which I, sadly, can't translaet into English.
