A conversation over at [livejournal.com profile] picowrimo made me dig out the still existing parts of my Grand Epos (TM). Meaning the 1,500+ pages of original fantasy written in Hungarian, some 25 years ago. The same one the middle 200 pages of which I've lent to someone and never got back. *sighs*

In any case, I did some typing up of the very first book of the epos. Chapter 2, to be more accurate. It's an interesting experience, typing in Hungarian (which I do rarely, and which requires the use of a different set of fingers than used in English, due to the different alphabet). So is facing the style in which I used to write a quarter of a century ago - which is, erm, a little bombastic, I must ruefully admit. It's a good thing that we outgrow ourselves, given enough time.

Still, I believe that with a bit of cosmetic uplifting, the Grand Epos (TM) would be still salvageable... if I could gather the strength to rewrite the missing parts. If I could be entirely sure what was in the missing parts. Certainly, I know the outlines, but the details have gone lost during the years in-between. *is sad*

I believe I'll give it a try, eventually. But until then, I have at least a few hundred pages to type up (the story was written on an old, mechanical typewriter, back in the Stone Age, when computers filled entire rooms), so perhaps I'll get into the spirit, after all.

Sounds like a major project! At least you now know what to do with your spare time. *g*

I think there's a good chance that you'll remember the disappeared part as you type up the events leading up to it. Fingers crossed for you!

Yeah, I think we can safely assume that it would keep me occupied for the next 25 years or so. I certainly hope that I'll remember some of the missing details; unfortunately, those parts were of crucial importance. *sighs*

Have fun typing! Maybe it'll get you back into the mood and bring back the memories of what was supposed to happen in these missing 200 pages.

Of some parts, I still do have copies. Unfortunately, not of the really crucial part of the Tragic Romance(TM), which would severely influence the fate of the whole empire... of several empires, in fact. *sighs*

That sucks! But maybe writing that part anew, you'll come up with new and interesting twists for the Tragic Romance which wouldn't even have occured to you all these years ago *tries to be optimistic about sucky rewriting*
