Still there...
Nov. 11th, 2010 10:34 pmJust a bit drowned in work. What little online time I've had this week, I've spent it with
picowrimo. It's a very friendly comm, with great fun following the progress of my fellow writers. I probably wouldn't have finished the first Tosh series without them.
Now I'm on my way to finish "Sparrows" during November, if I can. It should be doable, unless work stays this crazy until the end of the month.
Other than that, I dozed before the telly. Still watching "The Forgotten", although it angered me that they've got a blonde bimbo to replace the only mature female character. Why aren't any women older than 30 allowed to have significant roles in American shows?
Mum and I are watching "Castle" together. I don't really like Stana Katic, the actress who plays Detective Beckett. IMNSHO, she's made of plastic and couldn't act if her life depended on it. She looks like one of those puppets in the vitrins of cothes shops - and about as alive. But I like Esposito and whatshisname, the other silly detective, and I absolutely love Castle's family: the sweet, slightly precocious daughter and the completely insane grandmother.
"The Pillars of the Earth" - the miniseries starts next Tuesday on German TV. Quite frankly, I didn't like the book. The incredible amount of research the author had put into it impressed the hell out of me, the story itself - not so much. It seems to me that the guy enjoyed too much to describe in loving detail how various women get raped... aside from other unsavoury topic like soiling the altar by a vengeful woman and stuff like that.
BUT - the series has Rufus Sewell in the role of Tom Builder, and there's very little that I wouldn't watch if Rufus Sewell has a role in it. So yeah, I'll record the series and simply fast-forward the parts without him... or with content I'm not so eager to see. Yeah, I'm that shallow. Go figure.
Due to
picowrimo discussions, I think I'm going to dig out the very few Blake's7 episodes that I own on videotape. Unfortunately, videos don't have subtitles, but perhaps I've made enough headway in understanding spoken English to really enjoy them.
So, what else is there? Having baked all afternoon with about 40 kids yesterday seems to have a detrimental effect on my higher brain functions (such as they are to begin with), so I'll shut up now. Should I remember anything else later, I still can post another entry, right?
