Again. The bad weather of the last days has caused hundreds of people losing their homes on the countryside. We're being fortunate, here in the capital, but it's really horrible what happens elsewhere.

Will have to check out some of the emergency hotlines and spend some money. It's just money, after all, and I'm sitting here, warm and safe, while others have lost everything.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that! I heard in the news about floodings in Poland and the Czech Republic, but nothing about Hungary. Hope it'll be over quickly and without more damage!

Glad you are safe! Nature can play horrible tricks sometimes. My heart goes out to those who have lost their homes.

Oh, we're reasonably safe here: not too close to the riverside, and we managed to suffer almost no damage from the storms, either. We've been lucky, I guess.

Thanks. It makes one feel almost guilty, you know? Our school's organizing a direct collection to a particular village, where the colleagues have recently gone to a trip and befriended the people. That way, we'll at least know that the donations actually reach the people they are meant for.

Uch weiß nich ob es bei uns besser oder schlimmer ist als in Czechien oder Polen. Aber die Dämme brechen an mehreren Orten, und das macht alles wirklich schlimm.

It's not even the Danube, this time. It's small streams on the countryside that normally won't reach to your waist. One of the colleagues made a video record of one of those in the weekend - it looked like the Rauros!

Yeah, if anyone you'd know, right? Thanks for the good thoughts, Mira - and happy birthday to you, no matter what happens elsewhere in the world!

Oh dear! I haven't been monitoring weather over there latel, so I'd missed this news. I'm glad you are safe. And I'm not the least surprised that you would share some of the little you have with folks in need: you are a good soul!

Thanks, my friend, but I'm nothing special, really. I just think I ought to express a little gratitude that we've been spared. :)

Thanks, Aislynn. We've been fortunate indeed. The floods are going back a little already, but the people will need help. So I'll try to do my best.

Oh dear this sounds nasty. Am so very pleased you and Mum are safe, but having had first hand experience in helping out after floods, they really are a disaster. And the mess left behing to clean up,yuk.

There's been bad floods here in Queensland too, the weather seems to have gone mad world wide on floods! Here's wishing all the Hungarian flood victims the best.
