Back from Vienna

After more than a year, we finally managed to make a one-day-trip to our beloved Vienna again. We were supposed to go there last summer, but Mum got into the hospital just a day before. So, we were both very happy about it.

The day was great, although very exhausting. Stupid trains were late by almost an hour, it was very cold in the morning and in the evening, so I might get ill yet (hope I won't, though - took aspirin and will bake tomorrow, which provides a nice, warm environment).

In any case, we had fun. And I got a real Easter treat by Saturn (the electronics shop). I found the boxed edition of Atlantis' 5th season, which was the primary reason why I wanted to go. Aside from that, Babylon 5 and Andromeda seasons were on sale, so now I'm the proud owner of the B5 episodes I lacked from the 5th season. Granted, I had to buy the whole 5th season for that, but I got it for a third of the original price, so I call it a bargain.

The usual pre-Easter insanity was largely over already, but it wasn't so bad, honestly. We got a handful of small chocolate bunnies and bees (they're freaking cute), bought a raisin bread at Anker's (the best bakery chain in Austria), so that I won't have to bake it, too, tomorrow... and it's actually better than mine, the dough isn't that heavy.

So, I'm a happy camper. Easter decoration (painted eggshells) is ready, Easter eggs are coloured, Easter ham is cooked, Easter bread is bought - all I have to do tomorrow is to bake Ischler and Russischen Zupfkuchen, and the feast is being cared for. Yay!

It's a good thing, actually, as I've finished the next chapter of "Atlantis Café" and need to type it up.

I'm really glad to hear that the two of you had such a good time! :-)

Was planning on visiting Vienna with the family - I thought it fell through but it may actually become reality after all - and have always heard it's a lovely city.

And so busy you've been with all your Easter preparations. Happy holidays (if that's appropriate for this particular holiday).

Blessed Easter to you, too. :)

Hey, perhaps if you do manage to visit Vienna, we can co-ordinate and mate up there - it's only three hours by train from Budapest, and I know the city quite well, I can show you the most important sights.

Yep, I was busy. But now everything is done and turned out well, so I'm looking forward for two days of strictly fannish pleasure.

Here's hoping you won't get ill, and I'm glad you had a good trip to Vienna.
Happy Easter to both of you!

Thanks. Aspirin worked its usual wonders - since I take it only once or twice a year, my system hasn't developed any immunity yet.

Happy Easter to you, too, hug the girls for me.

Sounds like you two had a wonderful day, I'm so happy for you!

Yep, it was great. So now I have lots and lots more sci-fi pleasures for you in the case of your visit.

Hey, Merlin has come out on DVD in German edition, too, both seasons! Of coruse, I already have them, thanks to the lovely and generous [livejournal.com profile] the_wild_iris, but I think if they're available in Vienna, you can get them in Germany, too. And DVDs have the advantage that you can change languages, unlike video tapes.

Congratulations on finding The Preciousessssss!!!
And I'm delighted to hear you and Mum had a good visit to Wien. A well-deserved break for the both of you.

Yeah, I was very happy indeed. Of course, they only had the first 11 episodes of "Andromeda's" 3rd season, but hey, it's more than nothing. And it included "The Unconquerable Man", the wonderful Gaheris Rhade episode, so I'm a happy camper. Besides, when [livejournal.com profile] the_wild_iris comes in summer, I'll be able to make some business with her; like giving her the British money we still have left from our visit in the UK, so that she can order all kinds of Precioussessss for me. *rubs hands*

Hope you had a blessed time, too. What is it for you? Ostara? Spring Equinox?

[identity profile] lhun-dweller.livejournal.com 2010-04-06 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Ah yes, Gaheris. I just rewatched an episode from one of the DVDs you sent back my way. It was a Season 2 story. Alas, I'd forgotten the whole annoying Dylan-centric shift that season, the loss of the cool Season 1 theme and opening, and some stupid hair and costume changes for the female cast, not to mention the insertion of a lot more "retro" English slang. Still, there was Tyr, who managed, despite some lame creative choices on the part TPTB, to make Dylan and the Drago Kazov males look like inadequate fools. [sigh]

Oh, BTW: Crazy English Tip #435,218: It's "do" some business, not "make." I realize Sensible German says "machen" for both, but hey, that's English for you!

As for spring holiday, I don't usually mark any particular one. This year, we had our little "honeymoon holiday" with Mac, so that's my celebration of spring for now. When the lilac blooms out back, I shall sit on the porch (we're one floor off the ground) and breathe in the scent and be transported!

Season 2 is in large parts crap. Season 3 is *almost* better, aside from Dylan's space hooker of the week. Unfortunately, they've all but gelded Tyr for Season 3 - who'd have thought that losing his bone spurs would have that effect? In any case, should you manage to rent "The Unconquerable Man", you'll be in for a treat. Gaheris has a thousand time more command presence than Daffa-Dilly, and Steve Bacic is a much better actor than Kevin "Herc" Sorbo.

Thanks for the Crazy English Tip. I think I'll never learn this language properly. *sighs*
