I didn't intend to make myself this rare, but the sad truth is, workplace is being completely insane at the moment. We're preparing our annual cultural event (which is going to take place next Friday and Sunday, respectively), and it's making our normal, everyday chaos a great deal more chaotic. Add the abrupt changes in the weather, and you can imagine what makes an old hag like me so drained.

Kabel 1 came to the glorious idea to run the last 4 episodes of Season 2 of "Primeval" yesterday evening. Of course I had to record them, editing out the two advertisements per episode, and around midnight, I was really quite dead.

Stargate: Universe keeps getting worse and worse with each new episode. Really, when you think you've finally reached the bottom of the lake, the series still manages to sink to new lows. This week's ep, in which Young and Scott were dwindling around on an ice planet in 100,000 year old space suits, that somehow still managed to work, was so boring that I was watching different things on another channel while recording. I just couldn't bear to watch it. At least when recorded, I can fast-forward the boring parts... which would take about 95 per cent of the episode.

Still watching "Castle". Not a terribly interesting show, but at least something new. And I like Nathan Fillion, even though he filled up quite a bit since "Firefly".

But things are all peachy now. The lovely [livejournal.com profile] the_wild_iris has just sent me the second half of Merlin's 2nd series, so I'm a really happy camper now... when I'm not falling asleep in front of te telly, due to complete exhaustion.

Weekend, I'm coming!

Too bad about those series. I hope the Merlin-watching makes up for it. :-)

What's that about the changing weather? Is it spring yet?

Oh, yes, Merlin-watching is an absolute delight!

As for the weather, there are temperature swings of five to ten degrees, and I find my circulation isn't up to the challenge the same way it used to be thirty years ago. *sighs*

Sounds like your life and mine are mirroring each other right now. I've had not time to do much other than work, which is a problem since I have a vacation coming up that I need to get ready for. How am I supposed to know how to use my new camera, bought in anticipation of this trip, if I never get a chance to practice with it beforehand? I keep thinking I need another weekend off between now and the end of the month, but no doubt if I had one, it would get filled with work-related stuff and I'd be in the same spot I'm in right now.

Someone in our circle desperately need to win the lottery, so we can all retire to a life of leisure!

Amen to that. Preferably someone in Western Europe or the UK - they've got the best currency. ;)

Da hab ich also nichts verpaßt bei SGU... Ich hatte nämlich vergessen, auf den anderen Receiver umzuschalten, um die Folge aufzunehmen.

Nah, du has absolut nichts verpaßt. (Sorry, switching to English - fandom-related stuff is hard for me to discuss in German).

The events that went on for 40 minutes:
1. Some sort of alien insects (picket up on the desert planet in the pilot) are consuming their water.
2. They fall out of hyperspace near an ice planet. Young and Scott (who comes in late b/c of making out with Chloe) go to find ice on the ice planet.
3. Ice is contaminated, so they have to go far, far from Stargate. They fall into ravines, almost (but alas, not really) die. In the very last minute, they make it back to the ship and drive insects to the ice planet.

End of story. It was incredibly boring. But I've recorded it, so when you get over here, you can hate it properly. ;)

Oh, absolutely! On the other hand, mocking it while having coffee (or tea if that's your preference) and Kuchen, and making fun of the idiot writing and the one-dimensional characters together would be a delight.

You're welcome any time. I've got Andromeda DVDs, Atlantis DVDs, Torchwood DVDs, Merlin DVDs, Star Trek videos (original ones), serlf-recorded episodes of dozens of sci-fi shows... All I lack is the proper company.

That does sound like sci-fi heaven! Yeah, I know that, too, it's difficult to find people who are interested in the same things in rl *sigh*

Sadly, yes. So, nex time you make holiday plans, consider the fact that my private little heaven is open to you. ;)

I know it's frigging far from Germany, but I can always put up one houseguest for a few days. Especially in summer when I can go and sleep on the floor of the living room. *g*

I'll consider it. But holiday plans just keep not working out for me *sighs* Every time I plan to go on holidays, something happens. I think I need to act completely spontaneously to overcome the curse *g*

Well, I can tell you the times I won't be at home during summer (less than two weeks altogether), and you can just hop over spontaneously any time you want. ;)

I'd so love to discuss Nietzscheans with you!

Yeah, do tell me the times when you know them, sooner or later, we must be able to make it work! *g*

Well, currently it looks like I'll be in Romania from June 18-22, most likely, and in Switzerland from July 2-9. Other than that, I'll be available to August 20something, when school restarts.

But even for the rest of August, I'll likely have the afternoons free, as the children don't start coming before September 1, as a rule. It's just us, having meetings and preparing the classrooms for the start, that kind of stuff.

Romania and Switzerland, that sounds wonderful! Will you be doing another bus trip with your mom?

Switzerland will be a bus trip - a package holiday organized by our trusted travel agency. If everything goes according to plan, I'll get to revisit Yvoire, the little French fishing village that served as my model for Halabor. I'm very excited about it, even if we'll likely have very little time there.

Romania is another matter. Mum's going to have a 59th year school reunion with her few classmates who're still around, and that in the town she spent her youth. We'll go by train, most likely. It will be... interesting, I think.

Yeah, going by train, that does sound interesting, whether in the good or bad way remains to be seen. I reckon it'll certainly be very exhausting, especially in the summer heat.

The Switzerland trip sounds wonderful, though!
