Tell me, why have I ever thought that becoming a teacher would be such a good idea?

Perhaps because I couldn't foresee all that rudeness, unfairness and general ungratefulness that comes with the field? Honestly, if I hadn't my writing, it would have driven me suicidal years ago!

In a strange and disturbing way, it reminds me of the frequent fandom wars, where nobody can accept that someone else could have a different view of a certain show/character/situation/whatnot. That is why I probably wouldn't post "Trial Without Error" to ff.net, ever, although the first chapters have been uploaded to the Document Manager for ages.

I thought about posting it to Miscellaneous TV shows, it has characters from JAG and from German cop shows, after all. But seeing how someone went for my jugular when I first posted "Out of Legends", just because I don't think that Sheppard is the divine gift of higher powers to readers/viewers/fellow characters - and no, dear Anonymouse, in case you're reading, it's not a review that you can check out - I decided I don't need the grief they would give me for having the guy facing a trial for what he's done in "Hot Zone".

I'm tired of mankind. Point me out a nice planet, inhabited with intelligent plants only.

People who get bent out of shape and nasty over FAN FICTION (note that both words indicate non-reality)...

People who can't handle another interpretation of a FICTIONAL CHARACTER in a work of FAN FICTION (note that all four words indicate non-reality)...

...need to get a LIFE (note that this word indicates reality)...

...and stop crapping on your life. Why can't these folks just get over themselves and hit the "next" button?

Post your fic everywhere, and critics be damned!!! If a so-called "review" or "comment" is nasty or ignorant, give it exactly the attention it deserves: zero. Ignore it. Don't even finish reading it. Delete it if you can.

Life is just too short to let small minds limit you in pursuing your life's work: writing.

I so agree with Ibun_dweller, they are not worth the trouble. You write well and I think you should post it.

Oh, it is posted - to [livejournal.com profile] otherworlds_lib. I just don't think it's worth enduring the atrocities of the immature FF.Net crowd. Even if they are theoretically "mature" - on paper...

On the other hand, it's what I admire most about teachers. I know I wouldn't be alive if not for some good teachers who I've had along the way. *hugs*

As for fandom, yeah, it's an escape for us, but it does sometimes get really unpleasant. Don't worry. For every idiot who emails you with complaints, there's probably another 9 who liked it. Now if only those 9 would actually email.

That is true, they are supposed to be mature but I doubt that they are. If their favorite isn´t treated as they like they attack the author and that is sad.

Really, flamers are just bored kids no matter what their age. And school kids? *wince* I know how I and my friends treated our teachers!

Better not tell anyone of that plant inhabitated world, or all the people will move there too, and you'll have to move back again....

But that's supposed to be OK when *they* do all the character bashing to *my* favourite character...

My point exactly. It seems, it's a lot easier to insult people than to toss them a bone. Which is sad, really.

Why can't these folks just get over themselves and hit the "next" button?

I guess it wouldn't give them the same satisfaction. Plus, it would require a certain level of maturity, which would be asked too much. The number of years doesn't necessarily mean maturity, in many cases.

Smells like double standards to me. And I don´t like that.
