I haven't seen the series, either, and to be honest, I'm not all that interested, even though it was filmed in Hungary. But book fans say that they aren't very true to the books, and what few pictures I've seen on the Net, they so don't match my inner image of the characters that it's probably better so. Or else I'd get into inane rants about it as I used to do about the LOTR movies. *g*
