I've posted Chapter 03 to FF.Net and [livejournal.com profile] otherworlds_lib. In case any of you are interested in my original Trek/original BSG crossover still.

Last night, Channel 4 (the German one, not the British one) has shown Dark Star, perhaps the most wonderfully trashy sci-fi movie in history. I remember having read something about it being made by amateurs on a home computer or whatnot, and it truly looks like. The pappmaché sets and the completely inane tricks are priceless.

But you know what? I liked it. It had a plot, it had great characterization, and it was so very human. It certainly beat Starship Troopers or any other CHI-based, point-and brainless big budget crap.

Another one of my favourite sci-fi movies is Silent Running. Certainly, it was made a lot more professionally, and the visuals are great. Not to mention Joan Baez' incredibly beautiful mosic. But the true strength was the interaction between the main characters - two of the three of whom were little, clumsy robots. But I was more touched by that movie than by anything else I've ever seen in this genre.
