More Trekkie goodness

Star Trek: Enterprise has finally hit German TV a few weeks ago. After the later seasons of Voyager I was seriously afraid that I wouldn't be able to watch any new Trek installments without shivering. But I was pleasantly surprised.
Granted, Captain Archer has, as one of my friends here said, a sock puppet head. His dog is a lot more handsome than he. I think it's because poor actor's head is big beyond healthy proportions. How some people can write smut involving him is beyond my imagination. If they gave him a blind partner, perhaps, but other than that...
And it's also true that it was unnecessary to put the *Vulcan* science officer in a uniform that is too tight to allow normal breathing. Just so that the male population has something to drool over. But the actress is good, and they gave the character, well, some character. *g* A lot of character, actually.
I like Trip. He's cute. And Malcolm is hot like hell. No wonder that they've taken over half the fandom as a couple already. I actually can see the chemistry between them. There's definitely some spark.
And I just *love* Hoshi. I like it that she loves languages so much that she's even willing to serve on a starship, despite her fear of space travel. Now, *that* is professionalism.
The doc is fun, though they could have come up with something new instead of the ridges along his face. Mayweather - well, I haven't seen enough of the series to say anything about him.
Today's episode was "The Andorian Incident", the one about that Vulcan monastery that turned out as a surveillance station. The Andorian make-up was cool (they even had their antennae moving), and I was delighted to see Jeffrey Combs in another alien role. Jeff Combs is the coolest. It's too bad that PJ didn't give him the role of Gimli after all. He'd have made a fabulous Dwarf. Well, in all my stories he *is* Gimli. Imagine the visuals... Must hunt down a good pic of him and ask Archet for a photomanip...
Anyway, it's interesting that the series shows Vulcans as less-than-parfect beings. Sometimes a little much so for my taste, but still interesting. I hope they won't overdo it. Though I liked Gary Graham as arrogant Vulcan ambassador in the pilot. I saw him in Alien Nation and later as a manipulative Ocampa in one of Voyager's earlier seasons - he's cool.
Alien Nation - now, *that* was one cool show if I ever saw one! In a mere season (or, to be more precise, half a season) they've created the most unique alien culture I've ever seen. And I liked the movies later, too. One could see what big budget can do when the script is good and the actors can act. Unfortunately, most of today's big movies in the sci-fi or fantasy genre only care for the special effects.
It was my biggest disappointment that practically all the big Star Trek-movies belonged to this category. Though I rather liked Nr 4 with the whales. But I'm very sorry for the first movie: gorgeous visuals, but a story that was born dead already.
Okay, enough babbled. I should use my time better. Either:
a) with typing up the already written parts of Elvenhome's 13th chapter, or:
b) with typing up some more of that godawful vampire Timeline that has apparently no end, or:
c) with reading some more Trek smut - preferably something with Malcolm and Trip.
Oh, I'm a truly hopeless case.
