The sixth day of Christmas
Dec. 30th, 2025 07:00 pm... didn't turn out as expected. My friend Evie planned to come over around noontime - only her daughter, who lives in another town, has unexpectedly shown up for a visit. Wanted to surprise her Mum. So our get-together got postponed for tomorrow. Which wouldn't be a problem per se, if not for the fact that I had arranged slave labour housework so that I wouldn't have to cook today. I can't not cook for New Year's Eve, even if all I'm planning to make is a sausage roll wreath and a salad. I hate cooking on the same day when I have a visitor, which happens rarely enough. Ah, well...
To put the unexpected spare time to good use, I got my lazy rear in gear and finished my mending project. Yay! My favourite trousers are now a good centimetre shorter, so - hopefully - I'm not going to tread on the frayed hems anymore. Admittedly, the hems are a bit uneven now, but I don't really care.
And since I had the needle in hand already, I took out the looooong-ongoing doll house quiet book project again and finished one of the twin dressing rooms. There wasn't much left to do, just a small stool for the dressing table, which was done in less than an hour, but I'm very proud of my progress. Next on: the other dressing room, which still needs the wardrobe doors to be done - and the little stool. That will take a bit longer, but not overly so. After that, I can move on to the next room(s). Still haven't decided which one(s), though. The bathroom is the most promising candidate as I've already got templates for the tub, the washing machine and so on.
I also had a nice, long nap in the afternoon, so I'll be able to watch the various versions of the GBBO and The Repair Shop deep into the night. Since they are shown at such unreasonable times...
Addition: We now have brand new water intrusion in bath and loo. Joy, joy - NOT!
