From the frying pan into the fire
Oct. 17th, 2025 09:07 pmYesterday was exhausting. Today was... interesting, in the Chinese curse sense of the word.
( Come, join the fun... )
Before I'd collapse, however, I called H. and we agreed that - if nothing happens at either end of the connection - we'll make the trip to her next Wednesday. Thursday is a national holiday, but there is some big peace demonstration planned, so traffic will likely be blocked in several places, so we won't risk going on that day. I also called the cab company and they could tell me how much it would roughly cost - it isn't that bad, actually. Half the price private patient transport demanded for taking Mum to the cardiologist's in summer, and the distance to H's place is at least five times as big. So yeah, we're going to do it.
Which means, of course, that now I have to finish H's birthday gift (she's turning 70 on October 30) earlier. So I've just spent two hours editing and printing out Grandma's old recipes... the ones I had transcripted to my old PC a decade or so ago. Needless to say that some of the files refused to get properly edited, so it was very frustrating work. But the ringbook titled "Granny's Secrets" is taking shape. All I need to do is to punch holes into the printouts and file them. That can wait, though. I'm definitely done for today.
