Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] beauty_forashes! I hope it was a good one!

Here, have some virtual calories:

... aka getting busy.

I started with an early morning food run because basic stuff was on sale and I might not have got any of it, say, in the late morning. As things are, I managed to buy a zucchini, two cauliflowers ([livejournal.com profile] noadvertising, cover your eyes!), milk, cheese, butter, mincemeat and a giant cheesy bread roll for a reduced price. Which means an impressive percentage of saving, but also that tomorrow I'll have to process various vegetables for being put into the freezer. But that's okay. My hunting instincts are satisfied.

I also had shared kitchen duty with Mum today. Meaning that she made the batter for the pancakes (or rather crepes, but we don't call them that over here) and I baked them. Used up some more of H.'s ten-year-old plum jam for the filling. I'll be relieved when we ate the last two spoonfuls of it (perhaps for breakfast with the croissants tomorrow). I like plum jam, but when you have to eat it again and again it becomes a bit boring. It was a really big jar.

Consequently, very little time was left for crafting and writing (although I did a bit of both), and no time at all for a nap, as my friend Evie called after all this, to tell me about how she (and a helpful neighbour) dealt with the soil that was delivered in the morning. We then chatted a while about gardening, of which I know literally nothing. The fun thing is, though, that sometimes memories from my time in the cloister resurface, and I can tell her what the sisters did in the garden from time to time. She says it's helpful. I'll take her word for it. *g*

So, this was my day. Busy, but in a good way. I'm not complaining.
