I watched the state funeral of the Queen all day. Which was interesting, as we also had the big cleaning today, like every other Monday, so some part of that were skipped in lieu of watching the telly.

I found it very beautiful. Yes, I know some people think in the modern world such things are unnecessary pompous and all that, but I liked it. Ceremony - with all what comes with it - serves to make a marked difference between all those grey, boring, annoying workdays and important events. And while I'm not a royalist per se (our own royal family died out in the 13th century and good riddance - in all the centuries we only had three or four decent chaps as kings before foreign invaders took over), I always had great respect for Queen Elizabeth II. She was a classy lady, with a strong moral imperative and determined to do what she saw her duty. We could use more people like that. Many, many more people.

Consequently, nothing else was done today. We ate leftovers (in front of the telly) and rearranged the original configuration of the flat, like after each cleaning frenzy. Oh, and I went to Lidl right at 7pm to buy the margarine we prefer, as it was seriously reduced in price... for us and for my friend Evie. That I got Spätzle im Angebot was just an added bonus. Of course, I forgot that we already had 3 packages of Spätzle, and bought another 3 packages. So we have 3 kilos, which will be enough for a year or two. Ah, well, they won't go bad... I hope.
