Thursday is busy day
May. 27th, 2021 06:27 pmSo, I've made the base of Theo's cooking book. After some procrastination I decided to make a size A/5 envelope journal.
In case anyone is interested, the method is taken from this tutorial.
It is really quite easy, even though my journals always end up a bit crooked, due to my serious problems with doing anything in a straight line.
Anyway, I was of two minds about the cover for a while. The first idea was to make it of craft paper and cover it with clear self-adhesive film, to keep it clean later. But it would have been way too stiff that way. So I've decided to use the slim roll of self-adhesive fabric I bought at Lidl because... well, because it was pretty. Even though I generally hate blue. But this medium blue with white polka dots is so cute, and the colour will fit a pre-school boy without being too baby-ish, I think. Also, this solution would result in a cover that - hopefully - would be more elastic and easier to handle by a young child.
Placing two heavy dictionaries on the book to make the glue work, I then went to school, where I met with my friend Erna, who's making for me that knitted waistcoat. The few kids at the afternoon workshop had fun watching me try on the half-finished thing. It was nice to see my girls again, even if only for a short time and from a two-metre-distance. Our fearless leader had announced that we'd won against the virus, but no-one really believes it(*), so better safe than sorry.
I then made the obligatory food run and came home like a beast of burden. But at least the weather behaved itself, which was a relief since I forgot to take my umbrella with me. When I came home, Mum and I ate all the leftovers that were in the fridge, then we made our daily walk down our loooooong corridor to the rubbish chute and back, so yeah, we were both very active today. ;)
(*) Save for the idiots who now think they no longer need to wear a mask - a species that, unfortunately, seems to spread like the virus itself.
