Where has Saturday gone?
May. 30th, 2020 09:20 pmIt seems that the older I get the faster time flies by! I really didn't do so much today, and it's beyond 9pm already (over here anyway).
Okay, I did make a page for Baby Book #2; which meant, I actually made five pages, because Page 3 had a 4-part folding card, each part of which needed to be decorated separately. Also, unlike those crafty women on YouTube, I can't just buy all those little cut-outs and picture frames and this and that ready-made. I have to produce each and every little thing myself, by hand. Of course they don't even look half as pretty as the ready-made ones, but that can't be helped.
The fact that I simply can't cut in a straight line (not even with the help of a metal ruler and a craft knife) doesn't help. And I manage to glue on every piece that is supposed to be lined up with the background page crookedly. It's a "gift". Plus, I sometimes forget that the stuff I put on my face doesn't go into the skin very quickly, and touch my face and then touch the craft paper - and then I have to change the whole design spontaneously to cover the oily fingerprints... *sigh*
Anyway, that was what I did all morning. Then I cooked lunch; I got actual Hungarian cauliflower yesterday for the first time (and for an outrageous price, but we have to eat something that isn't pasta from time to time), so I made a cauliflower and carrot soup from a small portion of it, while the rest I simply boiled and served with bread crumbs roasted in butter. Well, margarine. It was yummy, but the kind of food that fills you for about an hour - then you're starving all afternoon until supper.
I watched some telly in the afternoon. I must ration my crossword puzzles; I've almost finished them, and the next edition doesn't come out until June 10. And Mum defends her collection like a dragon its hoard. I also finished Chapter 5 of "Kindred Spirits" - it only needed a short scene to complete it. I typed up that one scene, and that was about the end of my day.
No social contacts today. No phone calls, no e-mails. Of course, those things usually occur when I seek out other people, and today I just didn't feel like. Ah, well...
