Socializing like whoa!
Feb. 23rd, 2019 10:20 pmMum's oldest friend invited us for lunch (which is the main cooked meal in this corner of the world). We've been trying to get together for weeks, but either she was ill or we had the one or other mishap, so we had to postpone the event again... and again... and again...
So we were glad that the event got together today and were just about to start dressing when my cousin's wife (a different cousin than last week) called us and said they had an unexpected opening in their schedule - a very busy one as her daughter, who happens to be my goddaughter, had her birthday the day before yesterday - and they would like to hop over and see us. Another meeting that had been postponed since December or so, for similar reasons.
Mum thought about it for a second or two and then said okay, that would be grand. So we went to her friend and had lunch with her, then came home, revamped the flat (the little son if my goddaughter is almost 4 and very active, so preventive measures are necessary whenever they visit) and had a very lovely time with them. It turns out, my goddaughter is expecting her second child - a girl this time - around mid-summer, which is great.
I foresee an elaborate baby journal taking shape in the months in-between. Have looked up a few on YouTube, but they're all so overdecorated I'll definitely make something more subdued. My problem with scrapbook technique and junk journals is that - in my eyes - they are horribly overdone. I'm all for a tiny bit of lovely kitsch, but only in small measures.
