The needle book hasn't made any headway during the weekend, but I gave this mini sewing kit a try. If I understood correctly, the original was made of various sorts of crafting paper; I made mine of felt and chose to sew it instead of gluing, so that it would hold better.

This is my version:



It looks a lot smoother in reality, mind you, but since it isn't much larger than a matchbox, the close-up caused all uneven parts to stand out way too much. Yeah, I'm a rubbish photographer. But I'm planning to make a few more - as this one was ready in, oh, three hours altogether - and hope that the next ones will turn out less amateurish.

I'm also in a process to re-watch the 'Making of' videos of the Hobbit films (because I find the art of the WETA workshop simply stunning) and in one of them Alan Lee made an interesting comment. He said that the Stone Giants in the books were most likely just a metaphor for a mountain storm. Peter Jackson chose the other way, of course, giving in to his great passion for monsters of all sort, but I'm considering picking up Alan Lee's idea for whenever I get around to continue "If You Wish Upon A Dwobbit".
