Vacation diary Day 1
Jul. 9th, 2018 08:21 pmIt was an adventurous start. The lady at the railway cash desk f***ed up or ticket out of helpful zealousy, do we had to go to Linz first, spend the day there and come back to St Pölten in the late afternoon. Which means we had to pay. Great deal more for the additional ticket than what we've saved on the original one. Plus we had to pay for the locker at the Linz railway stadion as we couldn't really drag with us the whole luggage we packed for six days, so... ízt wasn't a good deal, not really.
At least the weather was pleassnt: sunny but not too warm. We sent a few pleasant hours in Linz before returning to our actual base. I saw a collection of First Doctor episodes on DVD that I really coveted but the price was unreasonably high, especially after the train ticket disaster. *sigh* If I find the same DVD here, I might reconsider... or not. There are hobbies and there is obsession, and I try not to skitter down into the latter.
Our hotel room is really nice - but again, we've been here before and knew what to expect. We phoned our Austrian friends from Vienna, in the hope that we might meet them, but the husband's just had an accident, so that won't go this time.
Tomorrow we are planning a lazy day because Mum's just about done in and I'm really tired, too. But we are happy to be here again, as we bith love this country.
