30-day Fanfic Meme - Day One

artemis10002000. Granted, I won't be near my PC for the next 30 consecutive day, due to the 11-day-trip to England and Wales in August, but I thought I'd give it a try nonetheless.
Day 1 - How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?
Now, that's a really hard question. I started writing at the age of 10 (and yes, that's been four and a half decades ago, go figure), and my first finished piece was a western-like thingie, inspired by Die Söhne der Großen Bärin. I was 12 at that time, and felt horribly sorry for the Sioux for having been forced into reservations by the white man. So, that pulled me into actual writing.
My very, very first story idea, however, was some horrible sci-fi - the only thing I remember were bubble shaped armchairs that could swallow you if you weren't careful enough, and then your buddies had to come to your rescue. Which clearly shows that even in 4th grade, I already had a hang to overblown dramatics. ;)
As for fanfic, I'm quite sure that my first things were stories related to "Winnetou" by Karl May. Fortunately, they only existed in my mind - thinking about them now, they were full of horrible clichés and even more horrid Mary Sues, with overdone angst and all that stuff. Since the Internet didn't exist back in the Stone Age, when computers still filled entire rooms, my shame is well-hidden. *g*
