It didn't take me a year like Bilbo the Quest of Erebor, but I've just realized that I'd been away from LJ-land for a full forthnight. Actually, I haven't been much online, save from the occasional update of "Web of Darkness" and "The Toreador Chronicles", which held me sane among all that work-related insanity.

No, I don't want to discuss that in any detail. It was mind-numbing, it was nerve-wrecking, and hopefully it's over now. By God, I do hope so. Between a charity ball and two cultural performances with the kids, insane hours of work, rehearsals and the occasional lesson somehow squeezed in between all those extracurricular activities - after all, we were supposed to teach somehow in-between, too, I'm surprised that we've all come out of it relatively unharmed.

So, I'm back for the moment before running out to Slowenia on the day after tomorrow for four days, and just wanted to say "Hello!". I'm sorry that I've missed a lot of interesting posts, national holidays in Australia and the birthday of [livejournal.com profile] the_wild_iris, and to my eternal regret, I can't even promise to go back, read everything backwards and give proper comments, sorry. Life is just too damn stressful at the moment, and whatever time I can spare, I use it to finish the two writing projects I've declared priorities.

How well it will go is questionable, of course, as my English seems to be deteriorating when I'm as tired as I currently am. But writing calms me down and focuses me on other things than nasty Real Life problems more than anything else could. Even if I'm having a nervous twiching in my right eyelid every time I look up the reviews. Fortunately, reviewers have been nice and friendly lately. I wonder how long this good streak will last.

Anyway, my apologies to everyone who probably felt neglected; I just was in no shape to socialize lately, not even in cyberspace. Which didn't kept me from being disappointed by my empty inbox, of course, but everyone is a bit of a hypocryte from time to time, right?

Well, I'm off again. Will try to type up a couple of pages I managed to write today between lessons, and then look after the rechargable batteries how they are recharging. This is the first time I'm trying my luck with them, as I intend to make an ungodly amount of photos in Slowenia. We're visiting two beautiful caves, a castle and the white steeds of Lipizza, according to the programme. I only hope we'll manage to squeeze everything into four days and to get back in one piece.

Will post the preliminary programme soon enough and any pics I'll manage to take after my return. Yes, I know I still owe you guys half the French trip, but after accidentally wiping my LJ ScrapBook it's very slow work to re-upload 300+ pics. Especially when I've no time for anything but the basic things. *le sighß
