Mar. 1st, 2008 10:33 pmWe've invited our old family doctor for lunch today. He's been retired for quite a few years by now and moved back to our neighbourhood after the death of his wife. He used to be my Granny's most trusted doctor; the two of them were more friends than doctor and patient, and we kept up the connection even after Granny's death twelve years ago.
At the age of 80, he's still full of energy, greatly interested in just about everything, from sports through politics to movies and religion, and we talked some six hours long after lunch. It was a most enjoyable afternoon.
I cooked my famous "Sauerbraten mit Semmelknödeln" and baked chocolate muffins. He liked them very much. Now both Mum and I are quite dead but delighted with our day.
