No, really. Once you let them into your life, they take a permanent accommodation.

Here I am, innocently working on The Shoemaker's Daughter, which is supposed to be about Men. Exclusively. Original characters, mostly, although it would eventually lead to the begetting of Boromir's son, of course, this being the prequel to Shadows of the Past.

Anyway, here I am doing all the geeky research, making up background trivia for some 200 people (current status - I'm not half done with that part yet), learning more about medieval lifestile that I've ever thought I would, writing short scenes that could be useful when I finally get to the story itself, and what happens? In waltzes Gildor Inglorion with his Wandering Company, and before I can say Elen síla lúmenn omentielvo, they completely take over Chapter 4. Just because they want to go to the Autumn Fair in Halabor. Just because some smiths and glass-workers in his pesky Company wants to meet their mortal buddies.

Who the heck is writing this story anyway?

Speaking of research, I'm getting a little frustrated with Google.

I was looking for some really, really detailled article about the Hallstatt culture (don't ask - it's for Rhún and for an entirely different story; I do my research as the ideas come to me), preferably with pictures. After clicking on, oh, about four dozen links offered to me, I've all but given up on finding anything useful. All I found were short articles of a few paragraphs, and I'd need at least a study about social structures, tools, everyday life and stuff.

A good thing I'm going to vacation the day after tomorrow. This research thing is developing into an obsession.
