It seems that my fan died on me for good. I haven't dared to switch on my PC for three days, in fear from electronic fires. So, I'm only able to go online at school, which is not always an easy thing, as we are 50+ people for two computers. Be patient with me, please, in case I don't answer your mails for a while and make myself scarce online. *sighs*
On more joyful news, I've discovered that Bestsellers (the only English bookshop in Budapest) still exists and still does order books from abroad for common citizens. So I ordered the first part of Ellis Peters' Brother Cadfael stories (I got parts 2-4 from
lhun_dweller for a birthday earlier and loved them to pieces) as well as Life in a Medieval Village by Joseph and Frances Gies.
archet gifted upon me Life in a Medieval City back in some earlier time, and I found it both useful and delightful.
Also, I've made unexpected headway with my Boromir AU, Seal On My Heart. Can it be that the muse begins to recover slowly? That would be fantastic! Of course, I'll have to wait until my fan has been replaced before I can type in the three new chapters I have written, but still...
Oh, and I've won 1st place - Sauron~s Eye Award - with my Orc story, The Last Stand. So, life isn't altogether bad. But I wish I had my computer back. It's very tiresome to stay at school after work or try to squeeze in some quality online time between two lessons.

Congratulations to the Award! *pats shoulder*

So glad to know Cadfael has caught your fancy - seemed like a good fit for your interests. Shall I send you some DVDs of the fine BBC productions with Derek Jacobi as the good Brother sometime?
And congratulations on your award!

Date: 2005-10-22 10:36 am (UTC)It's a fantastic series. I'm about to order the whole thing through Bestsellers, book by book. Knowing that it has 22 parts so far, it would take some time, but hey, I'm in no hurry. Took me some two years to get around to read the three books you've sent me - too distracted with other things - but now I'm absolutely hooked. I liked Monk's Hood best, so far.
As for the DVDs... well, you know I never say no to something good I can get my greedy little paws on, but you really shouldn't spend too much money on me, you know. After all, you have to save if for that plane ticket...
Now that I discovered that Bestsellers still does exist and does take orders from ordinary humans, I'll try my luck with the English Video shop. If they're still there, maybe they can order me the last two Babylon 5 tapes I still lack - I used to order B5 videos through them - and if they can order DVDs as well, I'll try to get Queer As Folk (US-version) as well. I have to *do* something while my PC is incapacitated, after all...
