The twelfth day of Christmas
Jan. 5th, 2026 07:35 pm... is when I have to say good-bye to this lovely icon (courtesy of
meathiel, in case anyone wants to know). I'll have to start thinking of subject lines from tomorrow on again. Grrrrr!
Anyway, today was fairly quiet and peaceful. It snowed a lot - in fact, it still is snowing - so I decided to stay inside for the time being. I'm covered with milk, yogurt, fruits and cold cuts enough to last me till Thursday. I can go to the nearest grocery shop then if I have to. I might have to, as bread will probably run out a bit earlier. I also have enough stuff in the fridge/freezer, so that I can cook from what's available. I won't play ice ballet, unless I absolutely have to.
Lunch was the same as yesterday. I only had to make Tütensuppe because Mum is very fond of soup, but that's quick and easy. In the rest of the day I did some crafting, watched some telly and read some fanfic. Later in the afternoon I tried to take a nap, but Mum was very active on the phone, so that didn't work out. Instead, I called H. and my friend Evie and chatted with them a bit, which was nice. Still, sleep would have been even nicer. Ah, well.

Date: 2026-01-05 06:41 pm (UTC)I received your Christmas card! Thank you so very much, it was a wonderful little treat to get it between the usual bills and advertisements
I've got family visiting until tomorrow, and then I'll finally have time to write some belated cards as well. With the streets here being an ice rink, it might be a while before I get to mail them, though. I guess they will be Happy January cards by then lmao — or in time for Chinese New Year, that counts, too!
Definitely play it safe with the icy streets, with your current streak of bad luck it's better not to gamble. If needed, I could give you a simple bread recipe which I use when I can't make it to the baker, doesn't need sourdough or hand-kneading

Date: 2026-01-06 01:07 am (UTC)We’re heading into a heatwave, started out with 34 degrees, then 43 degrees, and after that two more high thirty days. In other words, my worst nightmare. We shall endure.

Date: 2026-01-06 06:20 pm (UTC)Damn, that's very disappointing. But I feel it. For me, that was the bread maker machine I used to have. Yeah, a bread maker and it just couldn't get hot enough to bake bread.. So I feel your pain over half-baked goop.
