We had laundry day. It is Saturday, after all.

Then I had to make lunch. I made potato cream soup - it turned out very yummy, which is a relief. Mum loves soup, all kinds of soup, and I try to keep her happy. There are too many foods she can't eat anymore since she no longer have the required amount of teeth. I made toasted sandwiches for afters, as we had leftover bread that needed to be used up. That I cut a fingertip with the potato peeler in the cooking process was but a small inconvenience.

In the "keeping Mum happy with the help of food" department I'm going to make Topfenknödel and cheesy scones tomorrow. Healthy food is overrated.

I did a tiny bit of crafting - no actual progress, as I simply got another idea about another detail that I added to the dressing room page, so basically I'm still where I was days ago. *sigh*

I missed my afternoon nap; too many stupid YouTube videos, then I couldn't fall asleep because my eyes were tired from staring at the iPad for an hour or so. I tried to rest them a bit, lying down, and when I suddenly jumped up because the landline rang, I got dizzy. Not much, just a bit, but it scared me; and reminded me not to take my comparatively good health for granted.

The best part of the day: I managed to talk Erica (another former colleague) into joining us at the café outing. I'll have to ask the café whether we need to reserve a table in advance, seeing that we'll be seven people... or so I hope.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the party at the coffee house will be a success!

Sounds like it's going to be a good visit at the cafe.

Soup sounds great! I also get the challenge of having to look a limited range of soft foods for an elderly person, but I'm not as limited as you, so I really respect that challenge you have to take on. It's not always easy to keep meals varied with the given restrictions, especially when also keeping the time put into cooking to a reasonable amount.

I love soup too, and I particularly like making my own from scratch. My husband liked it too, when he found it hard to chew any longer. Now that I'm alone I find that I often have lots of leftovers because I'm still getting used to cooking for only one, but I usually put the appropriate leftovers into my soups and stews.

It's good to keep busy. I've spent too many days in front of the TV watching stupid Youtube videos, telling myself every few minutes, "I've got to get up and go out for a walk or something," but then not doing it!

I have started the soup season here, too. Hubby and I love soups of all kind, especially the spicy ones!

God, I hope so! We both sorely need an outing like this. The last time Mum was in this café was six years ago!

Stupid videos are a kind of voluntary brainwashing when our brains are barely functional. During exam times I used to read equally stupid Harlequin romance booklets — it's basically the same.

When I was a novice, I worked in the kitchen of the convent. We had a kind of general soup called "The Weekly News" because it usually contained all the leftovers from the previous week. I think that was when I swore off soup for good. *g*

With Mum, we always have soup season. Too bad that I don't particularly like soup.

That's certainly true, even though I don't like soup myself. Not very much anyway.

And welcome back! It's been too long since I last heard from you. I hope everything is all right on your end of the connection???

Fortunately, I like soup, so I have it a little bit easier there than you..

Yeah, it's been a while! The past months have been me bouncing back and forth between being crazy busy and/or sick. Still both somewhat now, but not to such levels I'm completely drained.
