... and when I finally woke up, twenty minutes later than usual, it was already 28 degrees outside. Then the workmen scheduled to change the flooring in our building have reached our level and started taking things apart. I decided to postpone my grocery shopping for tomorrow. The only thing on which we were running low was milk, but we still had enough for our breakfast latte, so everything else could wait.

After breakfast I started filling the rest of my lavender sachets - only to run out of lavender when I reached the penultimate one. Not a tragedy per se, I hopefully can get more lavender with the help of Erna, our art teacher, but annoying nonetheless. I so hoped to get this step done today. Ah, well. I've fixed H's crocheted Santas, Christmas wreaths and hearts on their keyrings instead, so that's another step done.

By then temperatures were up to 32 degrees, so I decided to take a break. I needed to put my feet up, as they looked like overgone yeast dough. I still had to make lunch; fortunately, Topfenknödel and Tütensuppe are easily done. I'm very opportunistic when it comes to cut back cooking time and efforts and have no shame about it.

We watched some telly and rested some more in the afternoon. Mum then heroically shuffled into the kitchen and did the washing-up - something I can't talk her out of. Not that I mind the help, but by this heat she should take things easier. Yeah, good luck telling her that!

Now we are in resting mode again, waiting for "The Repair Shop" to start.

Oh, and before I forget: [livejournal.com profile] picowrimo starts tomorrow, everyone is welcome to drop by even if only for reading. :)

Where are they changing the floors? In the hallways?

Poor you, the heat will stay with you for a while. Poor me, ours will end on Friday. I do not even want to think about next week's weather- rain, and even more rain together with cool temperatures :((

Easy meals are definitely a win in that heat. As I write this it's 19c outside and getting rather cloudy. I think we're in for some rain.

I planted a couple of lavender plants last week. They're pretty small, but your post makes me think I should try my hand at drying a bit of it to make a little potpourri sachet!

Whew, it's hot here, too, last weekend was mid-90s F (35C)). We're in the high 80s now, and it's very humid. Yuck. But! we have air conditioning, and are keep our indoors at 76 F (24C) which is really nice. Walking and gardening have to be done first thing in the morning or else it is just too hot.

Hugs to you and Mum:)

On the corridor. We have two corridors on each level, right and left from the staircase. Each corridor has five flats, two opposite each other and the fifth one at the end of the corridor. Usually, we keep the entrance door to the corridor closed, for safety reasons, and every family have their own keys to enter. The door can be manually opened from the inside without a key, so in case of a fire the inhabitants can flee. At the end of the corridor, next to the big fifth flat, there's also a tiny balcony where you can shake out your carpets or whatnot, with a grid that only opens from the inside and a door that can be opened by a handle, also only from the inside. It's an odd feeling that both those doors are wide open now while the work is being done...

It is one of our favourite programmes. The full episodes can be viewed on YouTube, but I prefer to watch them on the telly. It's more comfortable. *g*

Both extremes are bad, IMO.

I wouldn't mind some rain as long as it comes without strong winds and stays outside the balcony. *g*

Lavender potpourri sachets are really good for clothes. It's said that they also help with restful sleep when put under the pillow but I don't know if that's true.

I agree with the TV being more comfortable.
