I finally got that cardiology control appointment for Mum - and now hold onto your seat! - for 10 June! Of course, we could go to the private practice of the cardiologist, in which case we'd have to pay a ginormous amount of money - about one quarter of her monthly pension! Clearly, official healthcare has gone down the toilet, unless it's an absolute emergency. Well, fortunately Mum's doing well, so we hope this will last until the appointment, but I still find this outrageous. In any case, I'm grateful that the physiotherapist lady helped dumb me to get at least this late appointment online. I'd never have managed it on my own.

Other than that, I did the grocery shopping in the morning, went to the post office with Mum's postal cheques, and that basically ate half the day. I hope to do some more knitting and transcribing later, if I manage to bring up the energy.

I think health service is getting worse almost everywhere. People are getting okder and needing more doctors ... I think that's the main reason.

It is not so much better here- there“s a lot of complaining for having to wait far too long for such appointments!

OMG! OTOH, it can take that long for things here, sometimes, too.

If it's any consolation, you would have the same issue with appointments in the UK.

They plan clinics further and further ahead all the time, here, too.

And in our case, the fact that health service doesn't even have a ministry of its own, being overseen by the home office directly. Just like education, which is tethering at the edge of an abyss, too.

They probably hope that old people (except the obscenely rich ones) will die before they'd have to bother with them.

Can you also get an appointment within days if you pay a huge amount of money?

Nah, it doesn't help that your situation sucks as well. *sigh*

Practical for them, isn't it? Most patients will die before their turn comes.

Actually no. It takes knowing someone who knows someone. Or if you've been diagnosed with something in the ER, they can sometimes get you in faster.

Sorry to hear about your Mum's appointment woes. That is a long time to wait! Seems like healthcare everywhere sucks.
