Baking Monday
Nov. 25th, 2024 08:26 pmAnother three sorts of Christmas biscuits are done: Italian pistachio cookies, marzipan pretzels and orange cookies. The latter ones should have been baked in paper capsules, which I didn't get in the right size, so I thought mini muffin baking tins ought to do the trick. They did not. The cookies, which I had done many times in the past, came out of the tin in several pieces. I did some resculpting, pressing back the bottoms by hand while the cookies were still warm, but 80% of them look as if they had exploded. Well, I'll give away the 20% that came out in one piece (albeit slightly burned) and we'll ate the ruins. *g*
Since all this required a lot of finicky work (especially the marzipan pretzels that had to be shaped by hand), I didn't really have time for much else. A few lines of writing, a phone call to H who I thought had an appointment with the cardiologist two days ago (turns out she'll have it tomorrow), a short nap, and the day is over. But it was an eventful day with acceptable success, so it's OK.
