I got up an hour earlier today to finish the last necessary preparations for our cleaning lady who was supposed to come around 11am. At 9.30am she called and said she couldn't come, after all. Apparently, she is ill - must have been a very sudden illness, as last evening she was 100 pro OK...

So I did the big cleaning all by myself. Took me only 6.5 hours, even though Mum encouraged me to cut some corners and use the mechanical carpet sweeper instead of the hover that always kills my back. Cleaning the whole flat in one go just isn't a one-person job. Had I know that it would be left to me, I'd have done it in two or three parts, but everything was prepared already, so I just had to clench my teeth and make it happen.

We also had laundry day after the cleaning was done, and I had to cook lunch. God bless Lidl for occasionally having these pre-made pulled pork packages one just has to put into the oven for 25 minutes! Now I won't have to cook tomorrow and I can finally bake, since we had strong winds all day, which led to a wholesome dropping of temperatures. Yay!

After I got all this done, we had a late lunch and coffee with ice-creme. Everything is better with coffee and ice-creme!!!

I also tried to call several of my friends - not a single one answered the phone. Sometimes I wonder why people have mobile phones to begin with if they never answer them. Ah, well, nothing new here. They'll promptly find me if they need something.

I didn't have much energy left for anything, but I still managed to make half a card. I mean, I stitched about half of a star, with double silver thread, which wasn't an easy thing, but I'm proud of having done at least that much.

Looking forward to tomorrow and to a second attempt to make millionaire slices. My caramel was practically soup at the first attempt (several months ago), but now I've bottled caramel creme that I had bought at Aldi and hope for better results.
