Another pot holder gone :(
Jul. 25th, 2024 08:53 pmYes, yes, they are supposed to be given away, but it hurts every time I have to give up something I've worked on so much and so hard. *sigh* Anyway, our neighbour is having Namenstag tomorrow - she's called Anna - and we put together a gift bag, with coffee, chocolate and even a pot holder. I hope she'll appreciate it. *shoots vaguely threatening looks in her direction*
I was all over the district this morning - first went to Aldi, then to the Savoy Park (mini) shopping centre to buy lots of food at Auchan (I don't want to leave the house when it gets hot again) and to visit Kik, Pepco and Tedi, all three of which tend to sell craft supplies. I bought two packages of card stock for my upcoming paper embroidery project and some other small stuff.
What I didn't buy were a couple of light summer dresses I've been looking for lately. They just don't offer any sensible ones. At the oversized department of Kik there weren't any dresses at all, only t-shirts. The few that they had were too small size, too short and had rubber bands around the waist. I think I ought to find some Arab clothes shop; they know how to make loose, light stuff for the hot weather! *grrr*
Crafting-wise I've dug out my paper embroidery patterns for Christmas. Don't laugh, this is a time-intensive project! It's not just the stitching; one has to pre-prick every pattern with a short needle first, to know how to place the stitches. And the pattern tends to slide over the card stock during the process, no matter how well it is fastened!
I managed to choose a fairly complicated pattern for my first card, just because it's one I haven't done before: a very pretty, six-pointed snowflake. I've done the first point, then promptly messed up the second one and had to undo it two times so far. It still isn't finished, and I've got four more points to go, as well as four tiny snowflakes in the four corners of the card. *sigh*
Social life was also had today. In the morning my young friend Alex called, just when I was about to leave the house for the second time, and we had a nice, long chat. And then, in the afternoon, my other friend, Eenie, called, too. We vaguely agreed to go and have coffee sometime next week; perhaps to look for some clothes as well. We'll see.
Temperatures were bearable today, due to a constant, not too strong wind: between 19°C in the morning and 28°C in the afternoon. Tomorrow is supposed to be similar, so I'll have to make another run-around before the heat wave returns on Saturday.
