I've made the cocoa sponge and the mango creme for my Mother's Day cake. Buttercream and decoration (mango slices) will be added tomorrow.

I've peeled and pre-cooked 500 gram asparagus and pre-cooked a huge cauliflower. Both were bagged and went into the freezer for later use.

I've made a fantastic soup from the boiling water of the above mentioned veggies and toasted sandwiches for lunch. They were grand.

Oh, and we had laundry day, too!

I've worked a tiny bit on my teddy bear keyrings. Two more back panels are finished, eight more to go.

And with that, the day is already over. *is bewildered*
At least I got to talk to H. on the phone - that's social life, right?

That sounds like a very busy day — and the cake sounds lovely.

So, I tried to edit my comment above and kept getting a submission error. So posting the edit in this comment.

Edit: Did I get confused? Isn't Mother's Day next week? If so, hope you both have a grand day tomorrow and also on Mother's day, well ... every day ;0)

That's a lot of work for one day. You should pat yourself on the back. The cake sounds wonderful. We've already had Mothering Sunday in the UK. We seem to have it months earlier than the rest of the world.

Das muß ich auch mal ausprobieren. Gibt es zwingende Mengenangaben oder macht man es nach Gefühl?

As long as you have good food and the mothers get some appreciation, the actual date is of secondary importance, I think. :)

I don't expect anything extraordinary, seeing that the rest of the family keeps ignoring the only Methuselah left of her generation. :(

Yes, it is the thousand little things that ruin your day and eat all your time.
But at least we have cake.

Nach Gefühl. Ein gutes Stück Butter — so ca. 50 g — und 1 Esslöffel Mehl. Dann nach und nach so viel Brühe dazu, bis die gewünschte Konsistenz erreicht ist.

Oh, had to look it up. Apparently, it is on the 2nd Sunday in May here. Anyway, that's (your end) today — Happy Mother's Day!
