The pancake disaster
Apr. 20th, 2024 07:43 pm... or rather crepe disaster, as Palatschinken as we make them are basically crepes. Ordinary, recurring items on our menu, made on days when we don't wan to do any big, complicated cooking.
In theory.
So, Mum made the batter (because she does it off her head, not needing a recipe), which is usually enough for 12-13 crepes. Five of them came out of the frying pan in thumbnail-shaped shreds. The other eight were half-raw, half burned to death. And I have no idea why. I did everything the same way I always do... unless I've managed to add too much mineral water to loosen up the batter after it had spent two hours in the fridge? I don't know. I never saw crepes blow up like self-inflating balloons the moment they hit the frying pan!
We ate them nonetheless. But I'm slightly shaken. I've never had such problems with such a simple dish. *add mournful noises*
On the positive side, I've managed to complete Page #1 of Ilonka's baby book. Prepare to be amazed. Yes, I know it sounds immodest, but I'm really proud of this one.

Other than that, we had laundry day, talked to Heidi on the phone and tried to rest a bit in advance. Tomorrow - and especially Monday - will be hectic.
In theory.

Date: 2024-04-21 05:59 pm (UTC)I´d have made Frittatensuppe. No shame, because hubby brought ready-to-eat frittata for the boys, where each piece was about three centimetres in length...
