My young friend and former colleague Adrienne came over today with her four-year-old to fetch their cookie tin. It was a short visit but a lovely one; Mum enjoyed the kid's antics greatly. It's so rare that we'd have visitors; and hardly ever from our own family. They all do so as if they had all the time in the world; well, Mum hasn't! But I stopped trying to persuade them about that. If they don't feel the need to see the only one left from the eldest generation, it's their loss.

Other than that, not much happened. The flat opposite ours was being emptied, at least partially, as the blind lady had died a month or so previously. I wonder who'll come and live in it. In our corridor, four of the five families that inhabit it have been living here since 1977, when the house was built, and the fifth one came only a couple of years later. It will be odd to get used to someone new. I hope they'll be nice. The older one gets, the more one values one's peace and quiet.

No creative efforts were done today, partly due to the visitors, partly due to the fact that I had to deal with Vodafone's customer service for a long and exhausting half-hour. Why a phone company can't keep a line where one can actually hear the administrator properly is beyond me. Asking everything twice and thrice cost me my last nerves, as the Germans would say.

As for cooking, I repurposed the rest of the Easter ham, and some leftover creme freche and grated Gouda cheese into a noodle dish. Made enough for two days, so I won't have to cook tomorrow, yay! I intend to bind the baby books tomorrow, seeing that I'll have to start a new one, soon - another grandchild has announced her coming by one of my former colleagues. :)
