As I've mentioned repeatedly, I don't like cooking. It's messy, it takes forever, and the results are gone in 15 minutes, tops. Nonetheless, I wrestled the oversized broccolis into obedience today: 3 of them dismantled, the rosettes pre-cooked, cooled and put into the freezer (for 3 meals later on), the thick stems peeled, hacked, cooked and pureed, turned into a fairly decent soup, if I say so myself. Mum approved.

The worst part of cooking is that it has to be done in the morning (if you want to have a midday meal at any decent time), which interferes with my creative process. So, no more writing was done today, even though I actually had some vague ideas, and only very little work on the songbook. Still, I can hope that tomorrow I'll be able to sew the last page to the back cover. That leaves me with two finished pages, the first and the last; I'll "only" have to complete the six pages in-between. And to bind the book. At least I don't have to hem the pages; they're simply edged with blanket stitch.

Not much else happened. After half the morning in the dratted kitchen I was pretty much useless for the rest of the day. Mum put the dried, diced rolls through the grinder, so now we have lots of home-made breadcrumbs, which are so much better than the ones you can buy ready-made, even though we only make them so that we won't have to throw out days-old rolls.

I'm playing with the idea of going to the Auchan supermarket tomorrow, assuming the weather remains nice. We don't need anything urgently, but that's all the better. I can stroll through the whole shopping centre, fetch our medicines from the pharmacy, visit the craft shops and get a coffee from the automated coffee maker (if it's in working order). There are two fancy (and very expensive) cafés in that SC, but - don't laugh! - I actually like the cheap coffee from the vending machine better.

Cooking is even worse when it's just for one person. :/

I hate cooking too. Occasionally I get the urge to cook something exciting, but most of the time it’s make a soup that will last a few days. Soups in winter, salads in summer.

No laughter from me. Tea and coffee is a very personal thing and we like what we like.

That is true. And I'm not into fancy stuff anyway.

I think if I were alone I'd life off of soup and sandwiches. And the occasional cake. ;))

I hate cooking, too, and lately have been flubbing dishes I normally cook well. I think because my heart is not in it. Although, I did make beef & cabbage soup that we all liked and have enough to last for awhile. Low calorie too, which always makes it taste better, lol. Isn't it wonderful when you have a nice weather day. The few months before summer are my least favorite time of the year. I truly don't care for cold weather and the winters here are always wet and damp.
