Advent 2023 - Day 18

In the morning I worked some more on the new front page for the Christmas quiet book (that won't be done for this Christmas, mind you): I did most of the Velcro work, sewn down the floor line and finished the double-layered Christmas tree. Not much, I know, but since I postponed the deadline for next Christmas, I can take my time and actually enjoy the work.

After that, I went to the Allee shopping centre where the nearest Telekom customer service is, to put more money on Mum's mobile phone. It operates with a Domino card, so it needs to be uploaded regularly. The guy at the pult suggested me to fill it up for a year, as otherwise I'd have to go in 3 months' time again; and besides, it would be cheaper that way. So that was what I did.

On my way home I did the grocery shopping. Tomorrow I'll try my hand on home-made sausage rolls. Never made them before, but it couldn't be that difficult, could it? Especially with ready-made puff pastry. *fingers crossed*

I also went to one of the big craft shops today, but it was quite the disappointment: they had more ready-made gifts than actual stuff for crafting, so I left empty-handed. A few days ago I was at Tedi and Kik, and was disappointed, too, because they barely had anything Christmas-related. They're all in New Year's Eve mode already. *shakes head*

Gaby intended to come and fetch her cookie box today but hasn't shown up yet, and it's unlikely she will for the rest of the day. I hope it doesn't mean that she or her hubby or little Benny are ill. I'll call her tomorrow and ask.

Craft shops here seem to switch to stocking kits in the run up to Christmas. I wonder how many of them get thrown out by the recipients in the new year. I have received a few little cross stitch projects in my presents over the years, very few of which have made it beyond completion.

I vividly remember one 27th of December not so long ago, when I did a visit to KIK, to maybe get a few Christmassy items at a reduced price. What I found was a shop full of Easter decorations...
