Advent 2023 - Day 5
Dec. 5th, 2023 08:03 pmI got inspired today - or rather last night, about half an hour after midnight, that is - about the Christmas felt book. I decided that what I wanted to be the front page will be the back cover instead, with Santa waving good-bye and the reindeer taking off into the starry heaven. It seemed more fitting somehow.
For the new front page I chose a design with a fireplace, a small Christmas tree, a Christmas wreath, gift boxes and a teddy bear, as well as tiny socks hanging from the mantle. Those will be removable for the kids to play with. I've made a sketch in the middle of the night so that I won't forget the idea. We'll see if I can pull it off and if it will look good.
I also made the design for the one remaining page: a snowman that can be dressed with tiny mittens, a scarf, a hat, perhaps even a waistcoat. There are grey hills in the background and a Christmas tree, as well as a cloud and a sun with a large, flower-shaped sequin in its center. I've nearly finished the background in the morning and the early afternoon; am working on the Christmas tree right now - with metallic thread, which is hell to work with but gives things a nice sparkly effect. I'll have to add the snowman yet (cut out three circles of different sizes) and its wardrobe, but I'm happy with the page so far.
Other than that, we had choir practice again, which was slightly more enjoyable than last time, and I didn't have to cook because Mum volunteered - always a relief. Some of my friends have delivered their cookie tins, so I can start sorting out the already finished cookies tomorrow and thus free up some of my own boxes for the new batches.

Date: 2023-12-06 06:37 pm (UTC)I do not have pen and paper but a mobile at hand during night. Mostly I write down strange dreams I had (and which sometimes end up in a fic), or I do entries in my calendar.
