... with crafts, cooking, housework and the likes.

We had laundry day. Since the weather take a turn to be autumn-y and we have no heating yet (officially starts at October 15), I expect the washing to hang around, trying to dry, for at least another two days. Fortunately, there won't be cleaning frenzy on Monday, so they can hang in peace.

I've made another cherry pit pillow and a keyring that is basically a tiny pillow, filled with toy stuffing and a bit of lavender. The stuffing absorbs the smell of lavender, so the little pillow will keep the fragrance for quite some time. Or so I hope. I put it into a closed box, so that it would last till the Christmas fair. I've got another three larger (14cm by 16cm) pillow cases and one tiny pillow case cut out and pinned together. I think I've got just enough cherry pits for one more pillow; the rest will get toy stuffing and lavender. It's amazing how much you can do with just one small bushel of lavender.

I cooked lunch, something that we call finomfőzelék, literally translated as fine veggies. It's the Hungarian version of the Germans' Erbsen und Möhren, only that it also has kohlrabi or potatoes - or both. I opted for potatoes. The veggies are cooked, then something called helle Mehlschwitze is added (sorry, no idea if an English word even exists for that), and the end result is some dubious-looking mush that Mum loves and that poor kids often get in the school canteen. I don't really like it (as I generally hate green peas), but sometimes I need to cater to Mum's tastes, too.*g*

We watched telly (a double dosis of Barbara Salesch for me and Ihr Auftrag, Pater Castell for Mum), and then I read fanfic and played Solitaire on my geriatric laptop. And now the day is over again. Why does time fly so quickly?

I keep saying this, but I wish we lived closer. I have a big lavender in my garden that you could have had the flowers from. (I have dried lavender before.) Sadly, I'm not sure I would be allowed to post it across borders, and it would probably cost you as much to collect from your post office as it would to buy some lavender locally.

Light roux I only use for peas and fricassee. I prefer the dark one, because I love stews and gravies.
I have to keep hubby from killing my lavender, so that you can take the flowers with you, if you will make it to our house one day.

Living closer to each other would be grand. Imagine all the fun we could have together!

As for lavender, I haven't actually bought any of it. I just put the one small bushel I was given to good use because I thought it would be a shame to throw it out.
