... and called two of my friends, after all. I just can't bear this closed-in life without outside contact. I understand that the poor women are completely overwhelmed by the restart of school; our government, in their endless "wisdom", has decided that every teachers has to work two hours more at school - that is without counting on the correcting, grading and preparation work they have to do outside school. The two friends I spoke with today had to give seven and eight one-hour lessons today, respectively. Normal for both kids and teachers would be five... six when it's necessary. 'Nuff said.

Other than that, I worked a bit on the second songbook and cut out various decorative elements for the paper albums. And napped twice. The days are quite warm again, so I'm tired all the time. At least temperatures were bearable in the late morning, so that I could take Mum out for a short walk. No cooking thanks to leftovers, some telly... and now it's evening again,

Maybe your friends needed someone to talk to, too? That's a grave problem- more working hours generate more work with correcting and the like...

Which is why I am so happy to be retired. Even if it has turned out a much lonelier existence than I had originally thought.

Of course teachers get the shaft. Again. *hugs you all, even if you're retired*

I guess teachers being way undervalued is universal. I'm sure your teacher friends need to hear from you as much as you do them!

And then everyone complains that the kids don't learn enough at school. Under such circumstances? With 30+ pupils in one class? Oh, please! I'm so glad I retired when I could.

Apparently, they don't. After all, they only have the few classes a day, go home at noon and have the entire summer as holidays. That's what people think anyway. :(

Yeah, we discussed recently with Adrienne how her three-year-old presents her with the same situation... *g*

Everyone thinks they know better how we teachers ought to do our jobs. But it never occur to them to choose the same work, strangely enough.

And don't forget politicians messing around with how and what to teach because they know better than people who actually went to school for this and are in the trenches.
