First and foremost: Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] just_jenni! I hope it was a fabulous one!

On a more personal level, I've eschewed stitching on five identical trees in favour of making the first page of Songbook 2. It's almost done, only a few tiny embellishments left for tomorrow. But considering that we had laundry day, and I visited three different supermarkets in the morning, I consider it good progress.

And I've promised a pic of the front cover, haven't I? Here it is:

The background isn't this plastic white in real life; it has a very nice yellow-ish tint to it, which the mini refused to reproduce. Otherwise the pic turned out fairly well.

With all this, the greater part of the day was over already. Not much cooking was done; I made an upside-down banana cake that gets fried in a saucepan instead of baked in the oven, for lunch. It would have been great, if I hadn't burned the caramel sauce. Now I know just how low the heat needs to be. The recipe said to raise the heat when I don't hear noises from the covered pan; perhaps the fact that the washing machine was rattling in the background impaired my already not-so-perfect hearing. Well, next time I'll know better.

Hmmm ... the banana cake thing sounds nice.

I made an apple cake/pie today and asparagus pie for dinner. (Frozen asparagus!)

I have done this sort of cake with bananas, apples, pears- and I always got burnt caramel sauce, no matter how low the temperature...

Really? Thanks for the warning, that will spare me lots of failed attempts. ;)

Frozen asparagus actually works? Doesn't it get slimy?

Such a pretty cover. I can imagine the yellowish tint and that, combined with light blue, is one of my favourite colour combo's.

It has a lovely colour combination indeed. So frustrating that it doesn't show on the picture! Grrr!
