Another cooking premiere
Aug. 16th, 2023 07:26 pmToday, I made Königsberger Klopse - for the first time in my life. In fact, I'd only eaten them once before, back in the Stone Age, when I was a novice in Germany. I vaguely remembered that I liked them, so I decided to give them a try, mostly to use up the stuffing (mincemeat and rice and onions and eggs) that was left over from the stuffed kohlrabi last time. I couldn't be sure that Mum would like them (she was suspicious about caper), so I was a tad nervous about the whole issue. Fortunately, the experiment was a great success. Mum loved it (so did I), so we'll put it on the menu for further use.
My friend Evie was supposed to come over today but had to cancel - some minor problem with her car that had to be fixed nonetheless. We postponed the visit for Friday; hopefully nothing else will happen.
Mum wanted to go for a longer walk in the morning, so she came with me half-way to the pharmacy. At that point I parked her on a bench (we took two cushions with us, so that she'd be able to get up from it again), and there she waited for my return. It worked out well, so we might do such things again in the future.
What else? It was a totally craft-less day, despite the deadlines. I didn't want to start anything after our walk with Mum because we were expecting Evie's visit - the dratted car started causing problems when she was already sitting in it, intending to head for us. After that, I had to cook, and then was generally just too tired (it's quite hot over here again) and chose to have a short nap. At least I've brought up the energy to put away all my craft punches.
Tomorrow I'll try to bind the baby book (the paper one), as that's something I've already done at least a dozen times. Hopefully it will go well. That would mean one thing out of my hair. *fingers crossed*
Two hours later: We've just had a stormy rain of epic proportions. The balcony capitulated after the first few minutes. *sigh*
