We had an appointment with the chiropodist lady (thankfully, she was a lot less talkative than usually, so we got through it without a migraine), so I had to go shopping in the morning. At 7.30am I was at Lidl already - and it was already warm. *sigh* But I got everything I needed and pushed the shopping trolley home, so that I didn't have to carry all that mineral water and ginger ale myself. Of course, I then had to take the trolley back to the supermarket, but that was a small price.

Crafting-wise I worked on increasing the (felt) cat population: the last two cats are now equipped with eyes and paws, one of them even has a tail. ;) It was too warm to do anything else, so I stopped at that point.

Fortunately, we had leftover soup from yesterday, so all I had to do cooking-wise was to roast some Wiener Würstchen and make a salad. We ate the last of the ice-cream as dessert, so we were content with our lunch. (I bought more ice-cream, of course, for survival's sake.)

I continued typing up another random scene for the "Birthright" series and was delighted to see that the decade-old words actually still work. That almost gives me the feeling that I am, in fact, writing.

The next couple of days will be hard, with laundry day and preparing the flat for the carpet cleaning at the same time. But once it is done, we'll have our rest from that particular task for another year.

We had a carpet in the bedroom once, but only for a short time, then we opted for laminate. Easy to vacuum, does not like water so much ( but gets it anyway, in homeopathical doses, or it will macerate), and the small Persian rugs look nice on it and are easy to clean. You only need a carpet beater twice a year, if hubby does the job... Fitted carpets are more complicated, that's why ours had to go.

Ours came with the flat and have only been replaced once — some 30+ years ago. We kept them at first because they were safer for Grandma than any shiny surfaces; plus they were nice and warm in winter. In the end we got so used to them that I'd have a hard time to get used to anything else.

I just pray that it would be done as quickly as humanly possible... and without any incidents. *sigh*
I hate, hate, HATE housework!

I cannot imagine the chaos caused by carpet cleaning. I suppose that in the heat you have over there at present, the carpets will at least dry more quickly than usual. I am wearing a fleece dressing gown, even as I type this, which I think tells you what temperatures we have here today!

It's the worst, it eats up so much time and energy.

I wish I could send you a couple of degrees — it would be great, for both of us!
