... for today, but that's all right. The original plan had been to have my friend Evie visit for us in the early afternoon, but she had to cancel because of family reasons. I was looking forward to this get-together, but in the end the cancelling was good for me as well: I had an hour-long nap that had been long overdue anyway.

In the morning I did some crafting. I worked on the inside of the mill, cutting out and stitching on the major background panels. And I improvised the fence for Page 8, using a piece of felt "track" that hadn't worked out for a previous project. I managed to make my own work complicated by cutting it horizontally first... only to realize that it wouldn't look like a fence that way. So I had to stitch it together again - fussy work, and the outcome isn't even that pretty. But the major part of it will be hidden by the pocket for the finger puppets anyway, so I might not take it down again. We'll see...

No actual writing was done today, but I've typed up a full page of the next chapter of "Birthright 3" - a chapter that has been unfinished for the last 6 years. I just felt like putting together the already existing scenes in the hope that I'll be able to fill in the white spaces eventually. Not any time soon, I'm afraid, but I want to be ready, should inspiration hit.

It's awfully warm today, so we stayed in. I made a very quick lunch: fried fish with potatoes and steamed cauliflower ([livejournal.com profile] noadvertising, ignore this part!), and for the rest of the time we vegetated in front of the telly. Spektrum Home has brought back The Repair Shop, which we both like, so it was fun.

I hear you on the heat. Ugh!

I hope you can meet up with Evie soon.

We both have high hopes for next week. She'll be on grandson duty, but we have a nice playground next to the building, so she can bring the little tyke and I can take Mum out for a walk at the same time. Assuming she comes in the morning, that is, when temperatures are still bearable.

You will laugh, but I had a side dish with cauliflower when in a restaurant in Graz. Did not even taste that bad!

A shame that you couldn’t see Evie, but good that you could catch a nap!

I don't watch any UK TV nowadays, but I remember very much enjoying the first couple of series of Repair Shop before I ditched the licence fee.

True. I'm so glad Spektrum Home bought the series. My favourites are the Bear Ladies, but I like all the craftsmen/women, actually.

Well, it comes on a Hungarian channel, which means idiotic dubbing over the actual dialogue, but still very enjoyable.

It was yummy indeed, not to mention quick and easy to make, which is double win.
