I haz jam!
Jun. 8th, 2023 07:38 pmSince I'm terribly addicted to my choices of crap telly, I got up early (for me, that is) and started making my strawberry jam around 7am. Since the wonderful strawberries had just the right consistency, it went faster than I'd hoped: by 9am - the time when Mum usually gets up - I was done.
After copious amounts of crap telly watching, I went into town to finally visit my favourite craft shops that are not exactly withing easy reach. To celebrate that fact, I bought some really pretty craft paper. And even more craft paper. And a whole reel of chequered pink ribbon and lovely little rhinestone hearts in lilac because they were on offer. We won't discuss the sum I spent there; let's just say that I usually buy food for a week for roughly the same sum. But it was worth every cent of it.
I then went straight to school for a short choir practice with the children's choir and met one of my favourite young (ex-)colleagues for about 20 minutes. That was the longest time we were able to spend in each other's company since Mum's birthday, back in January. It's usually just phone chats. *sigh*
Coming home, we had leftover soup and sandwiches for lunch, watched some more crap telly and then I took Mum out for a walk. By that time I was so drained that I needed a nap afterwards. This warm, humid weather is very hard for me to bear. The year I spend in the Netherlands, where the weather is always like this, was probably the hardest year in my life health-wise. Fortunately, I'm old enough to opt out of any strenuous activities if I don't feel up to them now.
Oh, and
lissas_elves, in case you are still around LJ sometimes:
Happy Birthday!

Date: 2023-06-08 06:14 pm (UTC)Today I saw some rice paper decorated with gold foil and was relieved that I don't work with rice paper at all. It was expensive beyond reason, but I wouldn't have been able to resist, if I had any projects using rice paper.

Date: 2023-06-09 05:34 pm (UTC)Reminds me that I will have to make strawberry jam, too. Hubby leaves those fruits which will practically dissolve in the heat to me, and he makes jam with the rest, using the blender. This man really loves to play with kitchen gadgets!
