Congratulations and felicitations!
May. 20th, 2023 07:14 pmHappy Birthday, dear
mirasaui! I hope it was a lovely one!
I'd happily post a pic of my Black Forest slices - only that I've postponed baking for tomorrow. Today was big cooking day. I've tried my hand on these yummies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHrwrVuG88Y
They turned out absolutely delicious (if way too filling), but they were a lot of work, so I was too tired afterwards to spend even more time in the kitchen. Tomorrow. There's always tomorrow.
Crafting-wise I made good progress. Better than expected, actually. I've put in a lot of permanent stitches (all the blue rows, as it's easier to finish one colour at a time) and even found a way to camouflage the rather bad crease I had accidentally ironed into the outer cover. It is still visible, if one looks very closely, but with the felt flowers over it it isn't so bad.
We also had laundry day, so my (nonexistent) need for domestic activities is more than covered. Have I mentioned how much I hate housework? I think I have a few (hundred) times. Well, I still do. *g*

Date: 2023-05-23 03:58 am (UTC)Thanks so much for the birthday wishes! It was a fun day. Have not been on much as two weeks ago, I had an emergency operation for a vitreous hemorrhage and retinal detachment. Quite unexpected. So, have been recuperating from that. The good news is that my vision is restored and all the bleeding stopped. Sorry to hear about all the cold weather you guys have been having. Luckily for us, we have had warm, sunny days this month, with only a few afternoon showers or thunderstorms, my kind of weather — yay. It's the coming months that will bring on the extreme heat. Seems you are making progress on your crafting and writing — good news. As to knitting, I only learned the knit and pearl stitch and those by the hardest. We were taught to knit one term in high school when the boys occupied all the sports fields. We knitted squares to make quilts for veterans. The pattern was knit 5 stitches, pearl 5 stitches to make an 8 inch square, which we sewed together to make the quilts. I was left-handed and my friend right-handed. So, when we had to do the pearl stitch, we just exchanged pieces and both did the knit stitch, which was easier. Every once in awhile I buy a skein of yarn and try to make something, but never seem to end up finishing it. Ditto on housework, never has been my favorite pastime.
