Oh, no, not again!
May. 15th, 2023 05:32 pmApparently, my digestion no longer agrees with sausage rolls. Either that, or the ready-made puff pastry I used was one of these super-healthy things where they replace all sensible ingredients with something else and call it progress. In any case, Mum had the runs two days ago, after which we peeled the pastry off her portion of the rolls on the next day, and I heroically ate it, so that we wouldn't have to throw out perfectly good food. In hindsight, that might have been a mistake. No need to go into detail, except that I didn't spend the time between 6am and 8am in my bed. 'Nuff said.
We had our pre-scheduled cleaning frenzy in the morning, and then I gave my knitting experiment another try. Very carefully, I started a sample piece of only 20 stitches (after having studied the blanket Mum had knitted a few years ago in detail) and lo and behold!the pattern actually showed itself. I've very little yarn left from this ball (is it called a ball?) so I'll continue with this pattern as long as it lasts, and then I'll try out something else.
Due to the way too short night, I was fairly tired in the afternoon, but I couldn't risk taking a nap, as the bug guy was supposed to come (he did), and I wouldn't have heard him; I usually sleep like a log, and it would take Judgement Day to wake me up once I've fallen asleep. At least Mum got to sleep a bit; I guess she needed it more than I did, the poor dear.
The weather behaved itself today, so I could make the "early" morning food run, which means now we have bread in the house. For tomorrow they promise lots of rain again. I'm seriously considering not to go to choir practice. We'd prepare for the choir competition on Wednesday, and I won't be taking part on that anyway. It usually lasts all afternoon, which is a killer on my bad legs; and besides, I can't leave Mum alone for so long. Not that she'd protest, but I wouldn't have a moment of peace. It's better this way.

Date: 2023-05-15 03:55 pm (UTC)Oh yeah, if the choir is practicing for something you won't take part in anyway, you're better off sitting out this week. No sense getting wet for that, and then standing around in your soaked clothes all afternoon. You're just gonna make yourself sick.

Did your building turn the heat off a month ago??
If it's so cold, that's not good.

Date: 2023-05-15 05:46 pm (UTC)Stay at home and be safe, no need to get yourself soaked to the bones! We, too, got a weather warning for tonight and tomorrow. I hate this year´s May! Too cold and way too wet!

Date: 2023-05-15 06:39 pm (UTC)Definitely! It makes for a good excuse and isn't even all untrue, who knows if you'll feel well enough tomorrow to be comfortable going.

Date: 2023-05-15 06:56 pm (UTC)That annoys me, too.
And it sounds as if the knitting is going really well.

Date: 2023-05-16 08:04 am (UTC)I call them balls, even though nowadays they are technically not balls. I think there is a proper name for them, but I can't remember it. Yay! for your knitting success.
