I've put in all the temporary stitches to the outer cover of my textile book. It was a lot of work; I had to stitch double rows because of the lining. Those will be ironed on later, but it has been my experience that they aren't as self-adhesive as they are said to be, hence the stitching. I don't want the fabric to wander off under my hands when I'm putting the book together. It's bad enough that the fabric inevitably stretches and loses some of it shape when being hand-sewn.

I also started to re-learn how to knit. It was a present surprise to realize that I actually still remembered how to do the two most basic stitches. Now I have a small practice piece on which I can experiment how to create various patterns using aforementioned basic stitches. It is more fun than I expected.

Writing-wise I was quite successful, too. I've written about 6 pages (hand-written, size A5) for Chapter 10 of "A Stitch in Time". I titled the chapter "Fortune Favours Fools", after one of Captain Kirk's sayings. So far, I'm cautiously optimistic where this particular story is concerned.

There was no cooking today - we had enough leftovers - but I improvised some sweets without baking: two shortbread biscuits, glued together with hazelnut cream and decorated with melted chocolate and chopped hazelnut. All rests from earlier baking projects that needed to be used up. A win-win situation. *g*

Socially, I had two nice, long phone chats with (ex-)colleagues, which is always good for the soul. And now I'm going to watch the GBBO with Mum. Re-runs are a delight!

Knitting is like that, I found I remembered a lot when I took it up again (and yes, I have the sample pieces too :)

I'm not sure I'd still remember how to knit. I hated it when I had to do it in school!

Once you've mastered starting, finishing, pearl stitch and knit stitch, you've more or less got knitting mastered. Of course, tension has always been my issue.

I think muscle memory has a lot to do with that.

Yeah, me, too. But Mum and Granny made so pretty things and I thought I'd give it a try again.

My untrained hands started hurting pretty soon, too. Small steps it is.

Not so much fun just yet — I already had to unravel everything I'd done twice so far. But I'm not giving up!
