My frigging default browser regularly updates itself, which is good, I guess. However, the latest update resulted in the vanishing of the menu bar from the top of the browser window. Instead, they added a small icon with a scroll-down menu on the right upper corner, which makes things a lot more complicated. For example, searching my browser history and bookmarks have become almost impossible. I went to Settings, in the hope that I might find a way to reinstall the menu bar, but it's waaay above my head. So, if anyone could provide me with idiot-proof, step by step instructions, I'd be very grateful.

WHY DO THEY ALWAYS FIX THAT WHICH AIN'T BROKEN, DAMMIT?!?

I hate when they 'fix' things.

The instructions here don't help?

Google doch mal "Firefox menu bar verschwunden"- Mozilla support. Das ist das, was mein Mann heute gemacht hat. Auch bei ihm war nach dem Update gestern die Leiste plötzlich weg.

Oh, thanks! I've brought it back; let's hope it will stick! (I had no idea how to find the instructions in the first place! I'm such a Luddite!)

Danke! Glücklicherweise hat mir [livejournal.com profile] lab_jazz den richtigen Link gegeben (siehe drüben), so daß ich erst mal das Ding zurückgezaubert habe. Hoffentlich hält es auch!

I have actually given up on Firefox and gone back to Microsoft Edge.

I'm not familiar with Microsoft Edge. It has automatically downloaded itself to my PC, but I have no idea how to use it. I still have an old, outdated Internet Explorer for the most basic things, but many websites refuse to connect to it.

There was a point when Firefox was updated where I could no longer group all my bookmarked sites into folders, they were just one enormous list, which is when I went back to the Microsoft default and came to the conclusion that Edge is basically an updated version of IE, given a new name.

I hope one day someone will come to visit and shows me how to use it. The one time I tried to open it, it demanded to log in or whatnot, and at that point I backed off.

It would be your microsoft log in — you must have had one at some time when you got the computer, if you are using Windows so could probably just opt for the 'forgotten' option and they would email you a new one. The problems arise if you have changed your email as well since you got your computer.
