This and that
May. 11th, 2023 05:45 pmToday, I was an early riser - for my usual routine, that is. 7.30 is early for me. But I needed the time to get the morning routine done, so that I could leave the house in time and be back for breakfast. I had to fetch Mum's medication (they didn't have it two days ago and had to order it extra), to drop by at Tedi (bought a set of knitting needles - the ones that are connected at the end by a plastic... thingy - because I want to learn proper knitting as long as Mum can still teach me), and at the newsagent's to see if the newest Bastei crossword puzzle book has shown up already (it hasn't; it's due on May 16), and then I went to Aldi because bananas, apples, tinned tuna and the delicious plaited buns were on offer.
I was back at 11am, to have breakfast while watching crap telly with Mum (my daily routine to keep my German vocabulary alive), after which I finally managed to equip my Wichtel with their little bells. The 10mm bells are slightly large, but not overly so, they work well enough. I might buy some more as long as Tedi still has them; the price is very convenient.
For lunch, we had asparagus with tuna and roasted breadcrumbs and the other one of the yummy plaited buns, plus leftover soup. Improvised meals are the best, especially as they mean little to no cooking. Tomorrow I'll try my hand on sausage rolls; we'll see how they'll turn out.
I managed to squeeze in a little bit of writing, so Chapter 9 of "A Stitch in Time" is taking on shape nicely enough. All I'll have to do is to think of some nice ending of the chapter and then I can post it.
Afterwards, we watched some more crap telly, and then I called Ilonka, another retired (ex-)colleague and a good friend. We talked for half an hour or so and agreed to organize a meeting in front of our building some time in the near future, so that Mum, too, can see her newest grandkid. That would be nice.
So, that was today, now I'm going to type up what little I have written, and then play some Mahjongg and Solitaire, and watch baby book tutorials on YouTube.
