Crafty picspam of the day
May. 8th, 2023 06:53 pmOkay, I've finished (or semi-finished) my ongoing felt projects for the time being and thought to share the results.
Firstly, my Weihnachtswichtel, aka Scandinavian Christmas gnomes aka Nisser. As you can see, only one of them has a bell on the end of his hat yet, but I'm working on the project.

Following up: the finished pages for the finger puppet book, designed to help teaching 1st-term pupils a particular children's song - the Hungarian equivalent of Old McDonald's Farm, only that here the protagonist goes to the market with a half-coin to buy various animals. The voices of the animals are then imitated for fun, and every strophe is longer than the previous one, of course.
Page 1 - the protagonist, the hen, the chicken and the rooster:

As you can see, the animals appear larger than the protagonist, but in truth they are all roughly the same size, so that they can be comfortably put onto a finger (even that of an adult who has sausage fingers like me!).
Page 2 - the goose and the duck:

And Page 3 - the horse, the pig, the lamb and the goat:

And now I'm gathering up my courage to attack the really big deal: the binding of the book!
Other than that, I cooked for two days (asparagus baked in the oven with a cheesy bechamel sauce - yum!), solved some crossword puzzles, took Mum out for a walk, and we watched some telly. The days appear so ridiculously short when one gets old!

Date: 2023-05-08 07:03 pm (UTC)Now that I see them *in person* I don't think pom poms would be a good substitute. I do think they'd be still lovely without any bell or pom on their hats, though.

Date: 2023-05-09 05:42 pm (UTC)I told you that I can get you some bells. Might even have some in my box of wonders, even though I do not know which colours or which size. I could send you a tiny letter with lots of even tinier bells, so that customs won´t have a field day! I have been told that there´s always problems with customs in Hungary, so this might be reasonable! I only have to start sending early, because, you know already — snail mail alarm!
